"Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning."
Mahatma Gandhi

This goes back to what I have learned a long time ago, from my parents, coaches, teachers and professor's as I grew from childhood to adulthood.  What we see in ourselves, will determine our outcomes as a person.  Don't get me wrong, you can also practice bad habits and believe them to be right, but in the process, what you have done, is build poor character along the way, convincing yourself to be right.

Practicing to be the best person you can be, student, athlete or someday a parent, takes time, discipline and patience.  I tell my students all the time, "Practice does not make perfect, Perfect practice makes perfect".  You must make a concerted effort each day, one day at a time, to be the best at what you are doing at that very moment.  You don't have another opportunity to do tomorrow, what you could have done today.  There is no time like the present.  When you are in the moment, you must make the most of that opportunity.  Time flies, but what you do with that time, will ultimately determine your future.

What do you believe yourself to be, and what are you doing now, to be what you believe? Have you done your homework?  Did you run extra after practice to be better than your opponent?  Did you take some time to be a better son/daughter?  What did you do today, to help your family be a better family?

I was never the tallest, nor the fastest, not even the strongest, but what I did have was persistence and a work ethic.  I worked diligently everyday to be a better football player, student, and family member.  In some instances I have failed, in others, I have seen success, but whenever there were more difficult times, that is when my character was tested.  I knew that persistence, time, and faith, would build my character to overcome obstacles.  Believe that you can, have faith that you will, and hope to be a better person because of it.

Good Character are good habits practiced for a life time. What is your character?
